David Hill was born in Edinburgh on the 17th April 1991. A bright and sparkling individual, David possessed a very dry sense of humour and a love of all the good things in life, including family, rugby, friendship, politics and a fine whisky. David grew up in Edinburgh and then in Dumfries, where his parents moved to in 1993. David attended St. Michael’s Primary and St. Joseph’s College. Joined by a sister Georgia in 1995 and a step-brother, Alex, in 1999, David was the centre of a large and diverse family, with a wide circle of friends.
David studied politics and international relations at Dundee University, where he also became the Vice President (Sport) of the Sports Union. After Uni, David became involved with politics at a local and national level before working in the Scottish Parliament for Tom Mason MSP and then Jamie Greene MSP (Shadow Justice Secretary). While living in Edinburgh, David helped reconstitute the Parliamentary Rugby team and he thoroughly enjoyed playing in the Parliamentary 6 Nations.
On the 19th March 2022 in Dublin, playing for the Scottish Parliament against the Dail and Senead XV, David collapsed and died, without warning or any apparent symptoms. Investigations showed that David suffered a Young Sudden Cardiac Death.
David was just 30 when he died. He is missed and loved every day.
