Rodger’s proudest achievement is being Dad to David, Georgia and Alex. They may have a different view. Rodger had a 38-year career in education, starting as a teacher of Mathematics and Computing, latterly working as a Head of Education and then finally as Schools’ Manager for Dumfries and Galloway. Rodger is a lifelong Scottish rugby supporter, having played over the years for a number of clubs as scrum half/utility back. Along with Lesley and David, he is a season ticket holder at Murrayfield and he has supported Scotland on many away games.
After David died from Young Sudden Cardiac Death, Rodger made the decision to retire and focus on improving cardiac outcomes for young people through screening and the greater provision of defibrillators. In 2024, along with Lesley, Rodger cycled 322 miles from Edinburgh to Dublin to deliver the match ball to the Parliamentary rugby match, raising over £26,000 on the way. The DH9 Foundation grew out of this challenge and in September 2024, DH9 delivered its’ first 15 defibrillators to secondary schools across Dumfries and Galloway. When not ‘working’, Rodger enjoys spending time with his grandchildren Freddie and Hunter, exploring with them all things Lego and Star Wars - sometimes together.

Lesley Hill, David's step-mum, has been married to Rodger since 2002. David was seven when Lesley and her son, Alex, became part of Rodger, David and Georgia’s lives.
Lesley's career began in 1989 as a general nurse at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, followed by specialised work in Cardiology High Dependency and Day Surgery. In 1999, she transitioned to the private sector, notably managing the Scotland Home Oxygen Service for Vivisol UK.
Currently, Lesley works part-time for Vivisol UK, dedicating the remaining time to the DH9 Foundation. Founded in David's memory, the foundation provides a positive outlet for the family, allowing them to raise awareness of Young Sudden Cardiac Death, share stories of David, and keep his memory alive.
Lesley is now a certified Resuscitation Council UK basic life support instructor.
Lesley loves spending time with all the family and enjoys regular gym time and the occasional game of golf.
Lesley is our Secretary and Treasurer of DH9 Foundation
Georgia is David’s sister. Georgia is Mum to Freddie and Hunter; David loved the boys with all his heart and was so proud of his sister for producing her little humans.
Following David’s death, Georgia re-evaluated her career choices and left her role within the Scottish Prison Service to retrain as a nurse. Georgia is now completing her nursing degree at University of West of Scotland. Georgia, like her brother David is an avid reader.
Georgia is a vital part of the DH9 Foundation, serving as a Basic Life Support trainer and a trustee.
Alex, David's brother, shared a deep bond with him, particularly through their shared love for rugby and Rangers, despite their differing opinions on Manchester United.
After graduating from the University of South Wales with a BSc in Sports Coaching and Performance (Rugby), Alex now works as a senior telecoms engineer.
He resides locally with his partner, Ellie, and embraces his role as the beloved "Funcle" to Hunter and Freddie.
